Course Description
Music 35 is a beginning course covering the topics of beginning composition and arranging. Using concepts from Western music theory, students will learn how to construct and identify triads in different musical keys, count intervals, and use figured bass and roman numeral analysis to describe the structure and quality of a chord. This information will be explored using various lectures, online videos, handwritten/virtual musical notation, and piano performance. Coursework will include brief weekly quizzes on Moodle, a discussion forum, and end of week worksheets. Additionally, students will engage in different in-person station activities including group lectures, piano performance, and online/handwritten musical notation. Music 35 is in a blended course format. Monday and Wednesday, will hold in-person sessions while Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday will be dedicated to fully online coursework.Prerequisites include:
The completion of Music 34 with a B- or higher
