In this 2nd grade English Language Arts course, students will focus on developing essential reading comprehension skills by identifying key ideas and details in both literary and informational texts. This course is designed to support students in generating questing and answering them to demonstrate their understanding of central ideas. Students will also identify main topics and retell important details. Activities will be provided where students have opportunities to collaborate and practice summarizing sections of texts and exploring how characters respond to significant events and challenges in stories with their peers. Additionally, they will analyze informational texts to describe the connections between ideas, concepts, or sequences of events. Through interactive reading activities and open discussions, students will build the foundational skills needed for deeper comprehension and critical thinking.
