This course supports upper elementary educators with incorporating meaningful writing opportunities into all subject areas, not just ELA. Participants will explore writing-to-learn strategies such as quick writes, learning logs, and constructed responses that help students make sense of content in subjects like science, social studies, and math. The course will offer simple, flexible tools for creating content-specific writing prompts that reinforce academic vocabulary and support deeper thinking. Educators will also learn strategies for giving efficient feedback and adapting writing tasks for multilingual learners and students with IEPs. By the end of the course, participants will walk away with a cross-curricular writing plan they can implement right away.
