In this course, we will of course be studying the music of The Beatles. This means we will be listening to almost every one of their songs over the course of 13 weeks and discussing these songs and their albums in terms of various musical elements that you should already know about- such as mood, genre, instrumentation, tone, balance, melody, harmony, dynamics, tempo, and more. By the end of this course, you should not only have a better idea of who The Beatles are, but also why their music was (and still is) so influential.

Although you will be learning about their history in certain modules, you will mainly be expected to retain information about their actual music. In other words, if you can't remember what college Paul McCartney went to or what Ringo Starr’s actual name is- that is okay. In the instances throughout the course where their history is relevant to their music making, this will be included in the mini-lecture.
